So, what's everyone's opinion on downloading music? I personally don't have a problem. I believe that most people (like myself) download music, films whatever as a 'taster'. If you like something you don't mind paying for it and this is where the 'taking food out of kiddies mouths' argument falls flat. We're led to believe that everytime we download an MP3 God masturbates a kitten or something.
A recent report revealed that album sales are healthier than they have been for ages, especially with supermarkets now stocking CD's - you can now buy Coldplay's new CD with your Cornflakes - which has captured a whole new untapped market of music buyers.
I'll continue to download music for as long as I can get away with it, sod the kitten!

My name's Lee and I discovered this community in a comment left by violent_purple in stay_indie about this post.
I'm into all kinds of music, predominantly indie (see my Audioscrobbler). I've been in several bands, doing different things in each - keyboard player, DJ, drummer.......
Um. I'm crap at these bio type things! If you wanna know anything else just ask, but basically, i'm all about music and motorbikes ;-)

Has anyone heard of Paul Thomson's (drummer, Franz Ferdinand) old band? They're called Pro Forma and they are releasing a new single called: 'You Say, Repeat'. It's great, well worth checking them out. :)

|allmappedout||10:59 pm - Rich Dodgin's mixed CD - My review|
I really enjoyed this CD, the majority of it was music that I would not have encountered other wise. I liked the eastern flavours in it, a change from Western mainstream. Stand out tracks for me would be "Oil", "Shine", "Ain't talking about dub" and "I shot John Lennon" :) I do believe that we will be hearing our next review from trampled_daisy which should be appearing on the community in a very short while!

Hullo everyone, how be you all? I just thought I'd post to say I joined this group, it's very cool.
I love music lots...all over, up and down. I love listening to it, playing it and talking about it. Basically, I'm obsessed. Some people may say that I erm, "span the genres".
I love you all, be my friends.

|violent_purple||11:36 am - My mixed CD!|
My mixed CD is all finished and I've made a leaflet with loads of grammar errors and sellotape! Yay! It's called 'Summer is Here, Biatch', and I think it's rather good. It's got some tracks from Beck, The Go! Team, Air and Belle & Sebastian among many others. ^_^
Shall send it off to jasmineemily today!

|allmappedout||12:07 pm - Reviewing system|
First of all I would like to say that if anyone else wants to join the mixed cd project then feel free to post here there is still time to make yourself a cd and send it out and we can alter the distribution order if you wish.
Thankyou to Richdodgin for his work on getting the mixed club up and running - much appreciated I would have never got round to such a thing. Ok, basically I think the best method for reviewing is to post a message with the name of the cd or the persons name (or both) and then mark the tracks out of 10 with comments to each one if you wish. Then you can say what you thought of the cd overall. Be constructive!
