Greetings everyone, sorry it's been so long but as you can tell the community has kind of been on a hiatus period. Unfortunatly the mixed cd distribution has not worked out like I would have hoped - but we can maybe still make it work so get mixing and reviewing!
So how was everyone's summer been? Are there any gigs and/or festivals that you've been to? Any decent albums, new band recommendations for the communtiy please post if you do, hopefully we can get this community up and running again. :D
Current Mood: awake
I heartily recommend the following albums, all coming out in September or October:
Sigur Ros - Takk
Nada Surf - The Weight Is A Gift
Elbow - Leaders Of The Free World
Devendra Banhart - Cripple Crow
Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene (US import from Amazon)
Check 'em out if you can find a few tracks on the interweb.
I like Devendra Banhart's Chinese Children so I may buy Cripple Crow. Thanks for the dates.
Gigs/festivals I've been to this summer:
T in the Park-fantastic, Kaiser Chiefs were great
Franz Ferdinand-again, great
Pixies-v.good although didn't think much of the support acts (My Latest Novel, Idlewild, Teenage Fanclub)
Stereophonics-bit bland, so-so
Going to see the Prodigy in November.
As for album/band recommendations.....don't really have any at the moment but if anything springs to mind I'll let you know!
Ok this summer I went to see...
Patrick Wolf- enchanting, he has such a mesmerising voice.
T in the Park- Totally wicked day! Enjoyed the prodigy, bloc party and louis the xiv the most.
Franz Ferdinand- Fantastisch! Supported by the BRILLIANT Arcade Fire. Took lots of pics.
Pixies- played excellent set! But support bands were rubbish.
Album recommendations? It has to be Stellastarr*- Harmonies for the haunted. Out this sept.! Can't wait till they tour. :D
The gigs of the summer that I attended were Juliette and the Licks and the Pixies both of which I enjoyed immensely.
Albums to recommend - I have discovered the Kaiser Chiefs one and I think it's a fantastic album! I have just been given a loan of Arcarde Fire's album and the new Taproot one but other than that I haven't been buying many CDS. I've been listening to System of A Down's latest opus a lot as well as Pearl Jam's greatest hits both of which get my recommendations.
As for new new to look out for, nothing special just new albums from bands I like (guilty pleasures!) like Bon Jovi and Nickelback. I'm sure there will be others also but I'm not quite sure what they are yet.
Albums I'm going to be buying very soon are:
Sigor Ros - Takk
Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Fear Factory - Transgression
New Moddel Army - Carnival
311 - Don't Tread on Me
Soulfly - Dark Ages
Soulwax - Nite Versions
Gig wise, I will soon be off to see the following:
